SSG Noh Kyung-eun undergoes gallbladder removal surgery… Uncertain to join spring camp

Reporter Kwon Hyeok-joon = SSG Landers veteran pitcher Noh Kyung-eun (39) is on the operating table. It won’t take long for him to recover from gallbladder removal surgery, but joining the spring camp immediately became unclear.

SSG, led by coach Kim Won-hyung, departed for Florida, USA on the morning of the 30th. SSG will conduct the first camp in Florida, USA until February 26th, and then move to Okinawa, Japan, from February 28th to March 8th to continue the second camp. 안전놀이터

SSG plans to have a total of 62 players, including 17 coaching staff, participate in this camp, but the roster has changed right before the start of the camp. Noh Kyung-eun fell out.

According to SSG, Noh Kyung-eun recently felt pain and underwent an examination and was diagnosed with a swollen gallbladder. Accordingly, he underwent gallbladder removal surgery on the 31st.

It is not a major operation, but it is possible to leave the hospital two days after the operation. However, since it is difficult to exercise for a certain period of time after discharge, it is unclear whether he will be able to join the camp right away.

After watching the progress after the surgery, SSG decided to decide whether or not to join the camp.

Noh Kyung-eun is a pitcher who made a significant contribution to SSG’s combined victory last year. He played in 41 games, 79⅔ innings, going back and forth between the starter and the bullpen, with a record of 12 wins, 5 losses, 1 save and 7 holds, and an earned run average of 3.05. In his late 30s, he was back on his feet, holding his team on the mound.

SSG director Kim Won-hyung also expressed concern about the sudden occurrence of variables. Manager Kim said, “(Roh) Kyeong-eun is a pitcher who always puts herself in good shape before the season, so I’m worried. He feels sorry for himself too.”

At the same time, he said, “I showed my will to join the camp after recovering as much as possible.

Meanwhile, SSG added rookie infielder Kim Geon-woong to replace Noh Kyung-eun in the spring camp. Kim Geon-woong, who went through Hwasun High School and Yonsei University, was nominated by SSG with the 45th overall pick in the 5th round in the 2023 rookie draft.
