‘Ryu Hyun-jin is back’
MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, highlighted the performance of Ryu Hyun-jin, who improved to 2-1 on the season with a five-inning, seven-strikeout, two-run (non-hit) performance as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 10-3, in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 21.
MLB.com wrote, “Ryu doesn’t throw fastballs like other pitchers. He doesn’t have one of those pitches that makes you go ‘wow’. But he is smart. He reads hitters’ swings and enthusiasm better than anyone. He’s very intimidating to young (inexperienced) hitters and aggressive hitters.
MLB.com pointed to Ryu’s matchup with Cincinnati’s rising star,카지노사이트 Eli De La Cruz, as an example. Against De La Cruz, Ryu used a slow curveball in the low 90s to get two strikeouts.
Ryu told MLB.com that he expected the Cincinnati hitters to be aggressive at the plate, so he tried to work the count in his favor.
It was a game plan that was executed to perfection, knowing the tendencies of the opposing hitters.
Ryu is 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in four starts since returning from injury. Toronto has won three of his four starts. As a starter, he has done a great job of setting the stage for his team to win.
Ryu missed more than a year due to injury, but now he’s living up to the expectations Toronto had when they signed him to a four-year, $80 million free agent contract ahead of the 2020 season.
“His performance against Cincinnati was reminiscent of Ryu at his best,” the outlet said, “and he’s back faster and stronger than anyone expected.
