IBK won its second Group B match against GS Caltex 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) at the 2023 Gumi Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Tournament at the Park Junghee Gymnasium in Gumi, South Korea on Monday.

After sweeping Heungkuk Life in the first match of the group stage, IBK swept GS Caltex to top the group and advance to the semifinals. The team did not drop a set in the two games.

Pyo Seung-ju (20 points) and Yuk Seo-young (18 points) led the way in the win. Pyo boasted an attack success rate of 56.67%. Kim Hyun-jung (9 points) and Choi Jung-min (8 points) also combined for 17 points.

Heungkuk Life swept its second Group B match against Thailand’s Supreme Chonburi 3-0 (25-20 25-19 25-10).

After losing their first match to KEB Hana Bank, the team recorded their first win of the tournament against Supreme. With a 1-1 record, they moved up to second place in the group.

Jung Yoon-ju (17 points), Kim Mi-yeon (15 points), and Park Hyun-ju (13 points) led the way for Heungkuk Life in their first win.

Heungkuk Life shook up their opponents’ organization with strong and sharp serves. Heungkuk served 11 service aces on the day. Supreme did not record a single service ace.

Supreme lost two games to two. They did not win a single set during the two matches.

Plumjit Singkaw (11 points) and Kanika Thipakot (8 points) played well, but were overshadowed by the team’s loss.

Heungkuk Life was evenly matched with Supreme until late in the first set. However, at 19-19, Jung Yoon-ju scored four straight points, including a service ace and a back attack, to take control.

Heungkuk Life started to pull ahead early in the second set, with Jung Yoon-ju and Kim Mi-yeon leading the charge to take the set. The third set was a 25-10 victory, showing a clear difference in quality.
