‘6 consecutive wins’ Future Steam rising as much as the 1st group…Lotte has no worries about AG vacancy

“It is possible to prepare sufficiently.”

Lotte Giants 메이저사이트head coach Larry Sutton expressed his thoughts on the power vacuum caused by the selection of the Hangzhou Asian Games team ahead of the match against Kiwoom Heroes at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 28th.

Hangzhou Asian Games to be held in September. The KBO and the Korea Baseball Softball Association released 198 preliminary entries for the Asian Games on the 28th. 180 pros (86 pitchers, 19 catchers, 47 infielders, 28 outfielders), including 147 players under the age of 25 or less than 4 years old (17 newcomers) and 33 wild cards 10 pitchers) were included in the reserve entry.

In principle, 1 to 3 players per club will be selected for the final 24 entries, including players under the age of 25 or less than 4 years old, and 3 wild cards (maximum 1 per club) with no restrictions on age or number of years in the club. The final selection and approval by the Korea Baseball Softball Association’s Performance Improvement Committee will be finalized in June.

Lotte included a total of 14 players. Pitchers Kim Do-gyu, Na Kyun-an, Choi Jun-yong, Park Se-woong (wild card), Kim Jin-wook, Lee Tae-yeon, catcher Jung Bo-geun, infielders Kim Min-soo, Han Dong-hee, and outfielders Yun Dong-hee, Go Seung-min, Kim Min-seok, Ahn Kwon-su, and Hwang Seong-bin were included. Na Seung-yeop and Son Seong-bin of Sangmu also joined the preliminary entry. Currently, all of them are the main resources of the team, so if they are selected for the Asian Games team during the season, a power vacuum is inevitable.

You can say it’s a distant future, but you can also see it as a near future. Coach Sutton said, “It’s right to focus on the present, but we need to prepare for the Asian Games gap in the near future.” There are players. I think these players can fill the depth later. It is an honor to be part of the Asian Games national team. I do not know what position the player will be selected for, but I think it is possible to prepare well.”

Sutton’s confidence comes from the current Futures League standings. The 1st team is on a 6-game winning streak, but the 2nd team is also on the rise. The Futures team is currently in second place in the Southern League with 11 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. It has come to the level of competing with Sangmu, the strongest team in the Futures League. Coach Sutton’s confidence was based on the strong performance of the future team, and he was confident that he could afford to be selected for the Asian Games.
